Land O' Lakes Library LEED Project (Video)

After months of planning and research (and emails), we're excited to have taken another step towards gaining LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficiency and Design) status! This week, Camellia worked with Mike Legg, the media expert for the Pasco Library System, to create a video explaining the Green Club project for the library in detail, which will soon be posted on several Pasco and government sites for public viewing:
The next step in our project is fundraising and earning government grants. The project is expensive (around $50,000 to $75,000), but the savings in energy costs will more than pay for themselves. All support is greatly appreciated, and you can help us out here.
Camellia was initially inspired to do this project after learning how many people visit the library (about 16,000) every summer, when the electricity costs are highest. Basic updates, like the installation of LED lighting or UV window tinting, have not been introduced, and can go a long way in improving energy efficiency. Our goal is to have this project completed by the end of 2018.

Thus far, an energy audit has been performed on the library by a Duke Energy representative, which is the basis for the cost estimates above. The next steps, aside from acquiring funding, involve getting the word out (please share this post!) and having cost estimates done for all necessary improvements (visit our projects page regularly for updates on the process!).
If you have any questions, would like to help out, or know of any people/companies who would be willing to assist in this process, please contact Camellia at lolhsgreenclub@gmail.com.
